Recently, several popular vegan bloggers have gained a bad rap after being caught out actually eating meat.
Rawvana, a raw vegan Youtube star, caused a stir on social media after she was "outed" for not being authentically vegan. Rawvana - whose real name is Yovana Mendoza Ayres - was crucified by her fans when a video was taken of her eating fish at a restaurant. The alleged footage was captured accidentally by another YouTuber star who was capturing their own content.
Now Finnish vegan blogger Virpi Mikkonen has revealed her decision to switch back to eating meat after suffering from early menopause. She's just 37-years-old and the average woman begins menopause around 51, according to Women's Health.
“It was a huge thing to think, this is where my fertility stops," she told The Daily Mail. She also said she felt burned-out, lost her period and developed a rash on her face early last year.

After visiting a specialist, Virpi was told to stop eating her mainly plant-based diet in favour of more animal products. Adding in eggs, organic meats such as chicken and fish and various bone broths, she began feeling better again. "It’s amazing," Virpi told The Daily Mail. "I feel energetic, motivated. I’m sleeping better, the hot flushes, and aching in my body have stopped." She also said her periods have returned.
She added, "The problem was not being vegan, per se, it was the vegan diet and my stressful lifestyle."
Despite having to swap back to some animal products, you will find Virpi eating mostly plant-based meals. You also won't find any meat products on her popular blog either. She'll continue to focus on producing a rainbow of fan-favourite smoothies, creative salads, and drool-worthy vegan desserts for her fans.
