The highly-anticipated third season of UnREAL is set to hit the air on February 27th on Stan, and there are some new faces for your beloved Everlasting crew to deal with in 2018.
First and foremost is the millionaire businesswoman Serena, who stars as Everlasting's "suitress". She's genuinely looking for love and, consequently, playing hardball with our favourite diabolical show-runners, Rachel and Quinn. Then there's Crystal, the new "mid-life crisis" girlfriend of the show's co-creator Chet, who is sure to cause some drama for Quinn behind the scenes.
Australian actress Kassandra Clementi has signed on to play the ~controversial~ new love interest, and we caught up with her recently to find out what we can expect when the new episodes air.
IN: Were you a fan of UnREAL before you auditioned?
KC: Yeah I was! I had seen the first two seasons and finished them quite quickly, so I was aware of the show and thought it was amazing.
What about it's considered inspiration, The Bachelor?
I had never seen The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, or any of those reality shows, and it wasn’t until I was filming UnREAL that I got an interest in watching those shows. And you know, wondering whether or not the behind the scenes there was quite similar to behind the scenes of Everlasting. I'm obviously hoping for their sake it wasn’t, but that’s when I became interested.
What was it like to work with such a powerful female cast and crew on UnReal?
[It was] a very powerful set of very intelligent, strong and creative women... and men as well! The two creators of the show are these powerhouse women, Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro. Sarah actually directed an episode, too, and Shiri Appleby (Rachel Goldberg) and Constance Zimmer (Quinn King) also directed episodes. It was all around a very empowering set.
What can you tell us about Crystal, your character?
She comes in as Chet’s girlfriend and she’s quite a bit younger than Chet, so she’s been dubbed his “mid life crisis” choice of girlfriend. Obviously there’s a lot of history between Chet and Quinn, so for him to be brining in a new girlfriend who is quite naïve, and quite a lot younger than Quinn, stirred some drama.
The show comes out soon, what's next for you?
I’ve been spending time in Australia and then I’m heading back to America to see what happens.
Speaking of Australia, did you get to spend Christmas at home?
I did, I was very lucky to get back for the holidays. It’s been lovely, I have a dog who is asleep next to me right now and she’s been babysat by my family while I’ve been overseas. The Christmas period is always very important if you can get back to your family.
Do you do much shopping when you're home? What are some of your favourite Australian labels?
I love Auguste The Label, I have a lot of their dresses I love them! Zimmerman is one of my favourites as well. I’m also obsessed with hats by fallen BROKEN street. I think those are some of my favourites at the moment.
What's in style for you in 2018?
I’m wearing a lot of hats at the moment, and I’ve got quite a few maxi dresses. At the moment i'm living in a basic Country Road jumper, black jeans and white Seed Heritage platform sneakers. Comfortable but stylish is my 2018 style.
Are you taking the same laid back approach to beauty and skincare?
Less is more, is something I’ve learnt a lot. If I’m not filming and wearing character makeup, I try to put nothing on my skin other than sunscreen and just wear mascara and let my skin breathe. I also haven’t had my hair coloured in about six or seven months, and it’s the healthiest it’s been in a long time.
If you're not up to date on the hit series, or you're in need of a refresher, you can catch the first two seasons on Stan right now.
