The bushfire survivor is due to give birth to her first child in December, revealing to 60 Minutesthat she discovered she was expecting a few days before she was due to fly to Mt Everest.
She told Hoskin while he was brushing his teeth. "I just walked in and I left the pregnancy stick there," she said.
Turia also told the TV programme that she is confident her longtime partner Michael will make a brilliant father.
"He had to look after me for years, and he was so patient, so caring. I think those qualities, especially in a parent, are really desirable."
