The Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) was just photographed leaving his ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid's apartment in New York City, and this is hilariously interesting for a myriad of reasons. Settle in, because this petty extravaganza may take some explaining.
Abel and Bella split up in late 2016, just weeks before they would appear on the runway together at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Shortly after, in January 2017, Abel went public with his new girlfriend - and one of Bella's friends - Selena Gomez.
Then, in October 2017 Abel broke up with Selena, and she ran back into the arms of her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. Justin and Selena have been spotted on a series of romantic dates in the past few weeks, and have been photographed canoodling as they spend time together again.
Then, Abel took Justin's ex Yovanna Ventura out on a date over the weekend.
All this drama brings us to today, where Abel has been photographed leaving Bella's apartment in New York City...
E! News reports that the pair are just "hanging out" right now, and have not made their on-again relationship official.
"Bella and Abel have been in contact since Abel and Selena split, but they are not back together," a source tells us. "Abel reached out to Bella asking to hang out and catch up, and she decided to see him and see where things go. She knows that if they don't date again, they can at least be good friends."
"He has expressed to her that he loves her still, and they will always have a real connection," the source continued. "He also apologized for hurting her in the past."
"She never really got over him," the source explained. "She is not looking to be exclusive with him now, just to be his friend. His schedule won't allow him to stay focused on her—she knows this from past experience. She also knows he is talking to a few girls still. She reads what is put out in the news and that affects her."
"She is stronger this time around," the insider added. "She would give Abel another try, maybe down the road, but is taking small steps before she jumps back into a relationship."
We are L-I-V-I-N-G for this weird 2017 relationship time-warp.
