The Voice U.K. contestant Paul Black was driving home from a Sunday outing at the local park when the hand-break on his Range Rover failed.
Paul's daughter Pearl, who would have turned two next month, died in the accident. Black suffered serious injuries 'trying to use his body as a human shield' as he attempted to protect his children, The Sun reports. Also in the car was the 49-year-old's other toddler.
Taking to Twitter, the devastated singer shared a message to fans.
"My life is on hold indefinitely. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and messages. I'm a broken man. Our beautiful family has been savaged."
Police have said the tragic accident was caused by the steepness of the driveway which caused the car to gather speed.
In a statement to The Independent U.K. Pearl's parents said, "she has left a massive hole in our hearts, the world will be a darker place without her. She was the reason we all lived."
