'The Secret' Is Becoming A Movie That Will Star Katie Holmes

Remember 2006? Justin Timberlake tried (and succeeded) in bringing sexy back, we spent many a night yelling “No deal, Howie!” at our TV screens, aaaand we were introduced to the power (and heated controversy) of The Secret.

Rhonda Byrne’s self-help book, which focuses ultimately on the overwhelming power of positive thinking, held a position on the New York Times’s bestseller list for more than three-and-a-half years after its release.

The book, which applies the Law of Attraction to individuals’ thoughts and actions, caused a massive stir worldwide and succeeded in attracting both lifelong fans and vehement detractors.

I read The Secret soon after its launch; 10 years later my dream of a Gilmore Girls revival came true … In my opinion, there’s a very clear correlation.

Anyway, 11 years later it seems a new wave of Secret fervor is on its way. On Wednesday, it was announced that Katie Holmes would star in an adaptation of the bestseller. Being of the self-help nature, the book doesn’t follow a narrative, so it’s anyone’s guess what route the film’s writers are planning to take. We’re assuming it will fall in line with its loosely-adapted predecessors, like He’s Just Not That Into You and Mean Girls (inspired by Queen Bees and Wannabes).

Though we’re not sure what to expect from the film, there’s one thing of which we’re certain: This is one adaptation you’re not going to want to miss.
