Canberrians are very proud people who are seriously defensive about their "boring" reputation and, today, they certainly have reason to be! Turns out the good folks over at The Lonely Plant have deemed Canberra the third best city to visit in 2018... in the ENTIRE world.

The 'Top Cities' list began with Seville in Spain, followed by Detroit, Canberra, Hamburg, Kaohsiung, Antwerp, Matera, San Juan, Guanajuato and Oslo.
"Criminally overlooked Canberra packs a big punch for such a small city," The Lonely Planet explained. "National treasures are found round almost every corner and exciting new boutique precincts have emerged, bulging with gastronomic highlights and cultural must-dos."
Aside from being a well-planned traffic-less dream compared to the nightmare that is Sydney, Canberra is also home to some seriously important Australian history, beautiful scenery and a vibrant social scene.
With a series of impressive history and art museums, including the National Gallery Of Australia and the Australian War Memorial, it's a history buffs dream. There's also the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve and Corin Forest for nature-lovers looking to experience the great outdoors. Not to mention there are amazing cafe's brimming with killer food, like The Cupping Room, and cool bars popping up on every corner, from Hippo Co to The Hutch.
But for all Canberra has to offer, we can't help but gleefully chuckle (as we hide from our Canberrian co-workers) while reading these shocked reactions...
