Selena Gomez just added to her impressive ink collection, with a very meaningful tattoo.
The actress hit up a tattoo parlour on Sunday with 13 Reasons Why stars Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman, to have a semicolon inked onto their wrists.
Selena, who serves as 13 Reasons Why's executive producer, got the ink in honour of the series' central character, Hannah Baker, who takes her own life. The black semicolon tattoo gained popularity thanks to the suicide prevention and mental health awareness organisation Project Semicolon, and it's symbolic of choosing life over suicide.
While Alisha shared the above photo with a caption drawing attention to Project Semicolon, Tommy explained his own personal experience with depression and how he hopes to inspire others to pull through.
“Today was a magical day. Another day to be grateful to be alive,” he wrote. “I struggled with addiction and depression issues through high school and early college. I reached out and asked for help. At the time, I thought my life was over, I thought I’d never live past the age of 21. Today I’m grateful to be alive, in this new chapter of life in recovery, standing with my colleagues and friends, making art that helps other people.”
