We all crave a hairstyle that can take us from dawn to dusk, desk to drinks, without demanding we drag our hair styling tools to work. So it is with great pleasure that we present: the hun, aka the half-bun.

According to Pinterest, searches for the half-bun are up 92 per cent - and we have a feeling that figure is just going to keep on climbing. You’re probably familiar with the style, but possibly not the name – but what’s a hairstyle worth without a hashtag-friendly moniker these days? The beauty of the #hun is that it works on virtually all hair lengths and types – channel Kate Mara and perch a cute hun atop your lob, or do as Kendall Jenner does and add one to wavy long hair.
The hun can look pretty or completely punk – it’s all in how you style it. Wear slightly lower on the head with loose waves and a few soft, face-framing layers for an elegant effect, or pile upright on the crown for a bit of fun factor. Fine hair types might like to liberally spritz the hair with a texturizing spray first to ensure their hun doesn’t hang limp: try Oribe Dry Texturising Spray or even a few blasts of Batiste dry shampoo.
You can even add a modern twist to the up-do by adding in some embellishments, à la Lucy Hale (who has become a champion of the hairstyle of late).
