UK-based holiday home rental agency Independent Cottages are running a competition where one lucky winner can recreate their own version of The Holiday.
"It can’t be denied that a cosy cottage makes for the perfect festive setting, as you snuggle up by the fire and enjoy some mulled wine while gazing out at the beautiful winter countryside," says the company’s competition page.
"That’s why, this Christmas, we are getting into the festive spirit and giving away an English cottage stay inspired by The Holiday to one lucky winner.”
But there’s a catch. You need to be unlucky in love to win. "And in keeping with The Holiday theme, this competition is only open to entries from people who have had their heart broken this year."
“Whether you’ve been dumped, ended a relationship that wasn’t working out, or realised you were lusting after someone who didn’t feel the same way, take a leaf out of Cameron Diaz’s book and mend your heart with a cottage stay in the glorious English countryside this winter,” says Independent Cottages.
“Unfortunately, Jude Law isn’t provided.”
The cottage is called the Farthing Cottage in the Cotswolds, which, according to its listing, “oozes traditional character with beams on the ceiling, an original Cotswolds stone floor, stone walls, and a fireplace housing a log burner which makes it perfect for a winter break.”
To ensure you fully enjoy your ‘you time’, chocolates and prosecco will be at the ready on your arrival.
