When we asked Ryan how he was coping with the backlash after last night's episode, he said: "Yeah I’m good, I’m fine, obviously after the first episode I was like 'oh this is how it’s going to go down.' I’m the bad, terrible person that everyone’s going to love to hate."
The star also spoke with InStyle about the biggest controversy in Bachie history to date: who peed in the pot plant! Just kidding, we did pry into this gardening issue of national importance, but we'll get to that in a minute.
We first heard from the star about his decision to walk out of the mansion. For what it's worth, Ryan was super into Sophie at first.
"As soon as I met her, coming around that corner, I was just like phwoar!" he said. "I couldn’t help but look at her eyes and I was totally lost in her eyes. At this point I was still trying to figure out what to say and I was just lost for words."
Despite thinking Sophie was an obvious 10+ he just couldn't tell if there was any real feeling there.
"I was just really struggling with the fact that there wasn’t much time, I mean collectively I probably would have spent five hours with her… and that was probably more than the majority of other guys in the house," he told us. "Looking at my past relationships, they’ve sort of stemmed from friendship and blossomed into a relationship, sometimes that’s over six to twelve months."
Ultimately, it was seeing how other relationships were moving along at a much faster pace that led to Ryan's decision to confront Sophie.
"Jimmy came home from his single date and we had a good yarn and he just said “I’m really falling for her.” And at that point I sort of had to sit back and go, how am I feeling? Because these guys, my mates, are around me and they’re falling for this chick after such a short amount of time and yeah I wasn't."

As for the chat with Sophie? Apparently, it actually lasted an entire hour.
"I said to Soph, I won’t be able to give you a good answer because I need a single date, that’s what I need. We sat there for an hour, and we spoke, and it’s probably all I could have ever asked for from Sophie to have that real adult conversation," he told us. "That’s all it was – two adults talking about how each other were feeling. There’s certainly no hard feelings. The TV edit is going to be the TV edit, it is what it is, but we both know how it went down and there’s no hard feelings at all. I wish her nothing but happiness."
We quizzed the contestant about his views on women who swear, and asked if he could explain himself - especially considering he was videoed storming off set dropping the 'F' bomb.
"Let’s delve into that (laughs). Look, I grew up in the footy sheds, I grew up on a worksite, I’m certainly not Mr. Perfect when it comes to swearing.... everyone knows Sophie does have a potty mouth, and we all knew that heading into the show. On that group date, I was… I’ve got a pretty dry sense of humour... and that was me having a bit of fun with it. It’s a shame they didn’t play – well of course they weren’t going to play the rest of it - but that (a joke) is all that was."
Now, to the most important matter at hand: The pot plant!
"Oh god I’ve never seen so many men care about a pot plant!" he said. "How funny was it when he picked it up and tried to smell it? It’s like bro you’re digging your grave here, this is gonna look horrendous on television."
"I’m not willing to throw anyone under the bus… I don’t know anything about any pot plants," he said, before giggling like an excited 4-year-old. "It’s very cold out there while we’re filming so maybe the cool air got to it and stopped it from growing?"
Despite pot-plant-gate, Ryan says he has nothing but respect for Jarrod.
"All I know of Jarrod is what I saw in the four weeks I was in the house," he told us. "Jarrod saw something that he wanted and liked and he’s really going for it. He’s not going to let anyone stand in his way so, you know, I take my hat off to the guy. He’s just having a go and I’ll never knock a bloke back for having a go."
Damn. Brett confirmed there was definitely some tampering with the plant in our interview yesterday, and Ryan was very *clearly* hiding something. We guess we'll just have to wait until next week's episode to find out who dunnit...
