Why? Well, let’s just say the words “Hot diggity damn, he is one good-looking sort” were how she described him following their first meeting, so that probably had a lot to do with it.
While winning such a coveted opportunity like spending 24 hours with the Bachelorette is usually a good thing, as time with Angie is *everything* in this show, if previous seasons are anything to go by, it’s not actually a good sign for Carlin’s future with Angie.
Based on previous seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, the recipient of the first impression rose doesn’t go on to win.
During Matt Agnew’s recent season, he gave his 'golden ticket' to Elly. She only made it to the top 5.
Georgia Love gave her 'white rose' to Courtney Dober, but chose Lee Elliott in the end. Ali Oetjen found love with Taite Radley, but gave her 'wild rose' to Bill "David" Goldsmith at the first cocktail party.
Sophie Monk’s 'double delight' rose went to Sam Cochrane (who was not the winner), but to be fair, the guy she did chose in the end - Stu Laundy - hadn’t joined the mansion at that point so who knows if things would have played out differently.
The only exception to the rule, and there’s always one, is Sam Frost’s 'first impression' rose winner, Sasha Mielczarek, who also secured the final rose.
So, will Carlin suffer the same fate of so many contestants before him? The odds aren't in his favour.
