It has been confirmed that former Gogglebox star Angie Kent would be the next Bachelorette Australia. The reality star is best known for her TV commentary alongside Gogglebox co-star Yvie Jones, and her later appearance on Channel Ten’s Australian version of Im A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!

“I’ve always been the girl who loves to make everyone laugh, but now I reckon it’s time to have someone to laugh with me, rather than at me,” the 29-year-old said in a statement.

“I’m at a place now where I have loads of self-love, but I’m also open to all of life’s amazing possibilities. So, if 20 or so fellas want to join me, have a laugh and potentially be my perfect partner in life and love – I say – let’s give it a red hot go!”

But who exactly is the new Bachelorette?

Angie will be following in the footsteps of former the Bachelorette Australia stars Sophie Monk and Ali Oetjen on Network 10’s reality tv franchise. Given Angie’s fanbase, built as part of her Gogglebox persona Angie and Yvie, makes Channel Ten’s choice that much more exciting. According to her LinkedIn profile, Angie has previously worked in marketing and production and even been an executive assistant. She’s originally from the Sunshine Coast and currently resides in Sydney’s inner-west.

Angie is looking forward to having 20+ men “throwing themselves” at her, but she knows what she’s looking for.

“They have to have an amazing sense of humour, don’t take yourself too seriously,” she said in an interview with 10 Daily. “When it comes to looks I don’t have a type. I’m not one of those people that’s like ‘tall, dark and handsome’. As long as you have a solid personality and a sensational smile, I’m pretty much sold.”

In a 2018 interview with the Herald Sun, Angie was asked which other shows she wanted to go on, and it looks like she’s good at predicting her future. Or at least putting things out there so good things happen to her…

“I think I would do I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! even though I would get so frightened,” she said. “I wouldn’t do [be a contestant on] The Bachelor Australia but I would do The Bachelorette and the men would fight for me. I couldn’t think of anything worse than fighting a bunch of girls for one man.”

Bachie executive producer Hilary Innes: “Angie is the perfect Bachelorette. She’s genuine, funny, loveable and naturally gorgeous. I am so excited to see Angie’s love story unfold.”

The Bachelorette casting news comes on the heels of the announcement that 31-year-old astrophysicist Matt Agnew will serve as Australia’s 2019’s Bachelor.
