If we're being honest, last years Bachelor finale fiasco involving Nick 'Honey Badger' Cummins choosing to walk home alone, leaving Brittany Hockley and Sophie Tieman heartbroken, left us unsure on the Channel 10 reality show. That's until we saw new pictures of this years leading man.
Matt Agnew, a 31-year-old astrophysicist will be handing out roses. With a PhD behind him and a job at Swinburne University of Technology's Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing in Melbourne, Matt marks a departure from the media-trained suitors we've seen before.
Speaking to 10 Daily, Matt says he knew reality TV was an "unorthodox" way to meet a partner. “It may be an unorthodox way to meet someone, but I think it’ll be a sensational experience and make for a cracking ‘how we met’ story,” he said. “I’ve got a real ‘do it once, do it right’ mentality so I’ll be making sure I throw myself into it, be vulnerable and enjoy what comes from that.”
“I think a lot of the characteristics are things everyone looks for to a degree. Someone who’s supportive, compassionate, warm, caring, generous,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“Someone who’s fun and doesn’t mind being a bit silly.”
Past Bachelor stars Matty J and Sam Wood managed to find love on the Channel 10 reality show, with both men expected to welcome children with their respective partners, Laura Byrne and Snezana Markoski, later this year.
