We’d like to say that we’re surprised, but we’d be lying. Musician and entertainment powerhouse Taylor Swift (aka the voice of a generation), is set to receive the first-ever Billboard Woman of the Decade Award. Yesterday, Billboard announced that the “Lover” singer will be presented with the momentous award at its 2019 Women in Music Event – a celebration of the industry’s most powerful female artists and executives.

We know what you’re all thinking – it’s about time! Swift’s list of musical achievements across her 12-year career is far too long to include in one article, but here’s a couple to give you an idea. She’s had five No.1 albums, five No.1 Billboard Hot 100 singles, three worldwide stadium tours and has won 10 Grammy Awards. Not to mention she currently holds the record for the highest-selling U.S tour in history and is the only female artist to be awarded the Billboard Woman of the Year Award twice!
In the words of Billboard, she is “one of the most accomplished musical artists of all time over the course of the 2010s.” We couldn’t agree more.
Swift isn’t the only star that will honoured at the 14th Annual Billboard Women in Music Event. Fellow artists Alanis Morissette, Brandi Carlile, Nicki Minaj will also be awarded at the event, with more artists and executives to be announced. Last year’s honorees included the likes of Cindi Lauper, Janelle Monáe, SZA, Kacey Musgraves and Ariana Grande.
In addition to receiving the Woman of the Decade Award, she will also be named Artist of the Decade at the 2019 American Music Awards next week and is also up for five separate awards. If Swift wins, she’ll beat Michael Jackson’s record of 24 for the most wins at the American Music Awards.
It’s clear that Swift is the ultimate boss babe and we can’t wait to see her make history!
