While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon a fan named Joe, who turned out to be Turner's biggest fan, Joe Jonas, asked via a video recording if Turner was responsible. "Oh my god, hi, Sophie Turner. I'm Joe Jonas, I'm a huge fan," Jonas says. "I honestly have a crush on you but I've got a big question for you. I watch a lot of Game of Thrones and I was wondering: you're definitely responsible for that coffee cup, right?"
Fallon then pulled out a photo showing Turner holding the same cup while posing with Bella Ramsey, who plays Lyanna Mormont on the show. In response, Turner turns the blame on none other than her on-screen nemesis, Emilia Clarke.
"Alright, Detective Pikachu," she told Fallon. "This girl dies ... in one of the episodes! And this is a scene from the episode after she dies! So why am I holding this coffee cup that's in a different scene?"
"Look who it's placed in front of?," Turner said, pointing to Clarke. "She's the culprit."
Fallon then asked Turner if the actors noticed the error before it went viral. Turner said she received just one text from Nikolaj Coster-Waldau who plays Jamie Lannister, which read, "[G]reat episode, is that a coffee cup?"
As far as Clarke being to blame, she'd already alluded to being the person responsible in an Instagram post following last week's episode. "Did I just stumble upon the truth here?!" she wrote underneath a photo of herself with costars Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage. "The cup bearer does not drinketh the Starbucks tea... oh and this ain’t a spoiler just a lost wanderer coming home for a mid filming cuppa....🔥."
Let's hope no more rogue cups of tea are left in Winterfell in the last two episodes.
