Online retailer The Iconic have officially launched a new part of their app today, unveiling an impressive Shazam-like function that promises to find the user similar styles to the photographed piece. Their new feature is the first of its kind in Australia, and it's one that fashionistas have been waiting quite some time for.
Whether it's a screenshot of your favourite blogger's Instagram feed, or a photo of some killer IRL street style, the 'Snap To Shop' feature is designed to give shoppers a list of items available on The Iconic that match those in the image uploaded to the app.
The Iconic's chief technology officer Zoe Ghani said in a statement: "With two out of three of our shoppers purchasing via The Iconic mobile devices this year alone, we knew there was a strong demand for a mobile-first and more personalised shopping experience. This is how and why ‘Snap to Shop’ was born."
"Think about every time you’ve seen something on Instagram and taken a screenshot, saw a celebrity wearing something in a magazine that catches your eye or even seen something in a shop window, but don’t have time to stop and browse. You can now take those images and upload them within The Iconic app, or take a photo in the app, to instantly receive product recommendations for similar or the same items on The Iconic at the touch of a button."
"Users can easily search for products on The Iconic by uploading or taking a photo of clothing they see during the day - whether it’s clothing or accessories posted on social media or in a magazine, in real life or even at another store," she finished.
We know how we'll be spending the evening...
