Appearing at the Chloé autumn/winter ‘19/’20 ready-to-wear show, models wore versions of the accessory we all loved as children, except instead of a tattered leather string around their necks it was a delicate version of Chloé’s signature loop. Attached to bejeweled neckpieces, which were complete with woven detailing and pops of colour, the shark teeth complemented the boho-inspired collection, a nod to the brand’s traditional festival-girl-esque aesthetic, which has been built on by creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi.
But it wasn’t just the necklaces which got the Jaws seal of approval. Shark teeth came into play through earrings, too. Complete with sturdy silver hardware, the pearl drop-like shape was a tough take on a pretty shape — and we can just see them all over the street style set come September.
So yes, while shell anklets and souvenir T-shirts reign supreme this summer, you can bet that shark teeth will be everywhere come 2020. In the meantime, we’d suggest digging out your old piece of leather, because this trend might just be here to stay.
