1. It’s glam to the max
Fun fact: the collective term for flamingos is a flamboyance. Stepping into Flamingo Lounge, you can see why. Located in the iconic Potts Point spot that was once home to Hugo’s Bar, the space has now been reimagined and elevated to the epitome of boho-luxe. Think gilded palm trees, rich hues of cardinal pigments, seductive imagery and nods to the golden era of glamour.
2. It’s cocktail heaven
A lounge bar this gorgeous needs a cocktail list to match. And it doesn’t disappoint. Glorious concoctions resembling works of art are a signature of supper club-style The Terrace, served up by bar staff who really know their way around a shaker. Try their signature take on a negroni, the Flamingroni, or charge up with an Il Caffe – as the menu says, “Italians do it better, but Flamingo does it best.” Can’t say we disagree…
3. You won’t die of thirst waiting for a drink
Life’s too short to stand in line at the bar all night, so with two bars and 10 bottle-service booths, staff will make sure you’re served in a timely fashion so you can get on with Havana good time (see what we did there?).
4. Fabulous food
Whether you’re a late-night nibbler or you’re down to dine, there’s something on the menu for every appetite at any time, from croquettes and arancini to fabulous gourmet pizzas. If you’re there for a Sunday session you can’t go past the $10 pizza special.
5. Get down, year-round
Flamingo Lounge covers a pretty significant amount of exclusive Potts Point real estate, catering for up to 400 people across two distinct settings, alfresco space The Terrace, and The Discotheque. So, unlike other bars that are deserted in the cooler months, it’s as hospitable in July as it is in January. And can you get any more ‘70s than a ‘discotheque’? With some of Sydney’s premier DJs on the decks, and a dancefloor that’s just begging you to burn it up, it’s almost impossible to resist giving it a shake.
6. Spacious yet intimate
Designed by Josh Clapp from Steel + Stitch (Lobo Plantation, El Topo), Flamingo’s fit-out was created with atmosphere and intimacy equally in mind. It ticks the boxes for a date, with cosy corners and booths for a pizza with your plus-one, but it’s equally great for a cocktail party with a late-night crew. Flamingo Lounge is also a perfect spot for a function and can cater to groups of various sizes. So, when the boss tasks you with organising the office Christmas party, tell her you’ve got it sorted.
7. Awesome people watching
If you’re a people watcher, perch yourself near the dancefloor and enjoy. Flamingo Lounge is a destination for beautiful people who come for the impeccable hospitality and atmosphere. It’s the place for birds of paradise to strut their stuff, so don’t be surprised if you see a few familiar faces beside you at the bar. With two VIP parlours for functions, celebrities and those who prefer a bit of extra privacy for their guests, the crew at Flamingo have every base covered for nightowls, bringing glamour back to Sydney’s nightlife in a big way.
