Another coincidence? We'll let you decide.
Fans of Gomez took this as a threat aimed at the singer and quickly jumped to her defence, blasting Hailey's social media with angry comments.
Bieber was quick to deny the song reference had been aimed at Gomez and hit back in a since-deleted comment on @justjared's Instagram page saying: “Please stop with this nonsense… there is no ‘response.' This is complete BS.”
Now, it seems Gomez a has a thing or two to say herself.
The singer has just taken to Instagram Stories to deliver an emotional live video thanking her fans for their support of her new music and urging them not to be "rude to other people."
"I want to say while I’m on this live. I am grateful for the response the song is getting. I’m so grateful. However, I do not stand by women tearing other women down. And I will never, ever be by that. So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is. If you’re my fans, please don’t be rude to anybody please. Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment. Just please for me, know that’s not my heart. My heart is only to release things that I feel are me, and that I’m proud of."
"I want to again just thank you," she continued. I’m sure these live videos go everywhere. I just want to reiterate how grateful I am. My mind is blown. I’ve had such a cool year in producing beautiful things and working on projects that have made me grow and have challenged me. And I’ve taken some risks. I’m grateful that I just didn't let fear, I didn’t let anxiety or any of my depression take over.
Gomez then went on to explain her intentions behind releasing the song.
"My songs have nothing but good intentions. This was simply me just sharing my story and I couldn’t be more happy to just release this chapter. Again, please be kind. Please, please, please be kind. I don’t like seeing people be disrespectful or rude to other people. So please, don’t do that."
