Paris fashion week is over for another season, but with it bought some of the best looks we’ve seen all month. From Hedi Slimane’s re-done Celine to Paco Rabanne’s hyped-up glamour, we found joy in some of the city’s most unexpected moments. Below, our fashion team weigh in on the pieces and the shows that made us seriously happy. Now, bring on winter!
NATALIE MELL, Fashion News Writer:
From sequinned party pants and shoulder-skimming crystal earrings to the label’s signature chainmail dresses, Paco Rabanne’s autumn/winter collection served up so much modern glamour. I can’t land on a favourite look because I want to wear it all!
On a very different note, I’m drawn to the oversized proportions of this Balenciaga look—it just reads so effortlessly cool. The B-branded gold earrings are the perfect finishing touch.
KATHERINE GREEN, Fashion Director:
Miu Miu (above) and Valentino (below)
I loved the Miu Miu and Valentino shows — I loved the unexpected textures and the bold silhouettes in the Valentino show, especially.
LUCY WOOD, Junior Fashion Editor:
This show brought me so much joy! I loved the clashing colors, prints and textures. A nice reminder that more, really is more.
A classic Chanel show that honoured Karl Lagerfeld and his legacy. In particular I loved look one, a monochrome tweed oversized suit and coat with layered jewels. Perfect.
LULU CUSTANCE, Market Editor and Fashion Office Manager:
Loewe have been presenting stronger collections season on season. I love the tonal colour palette, mix of textures and most of all the whimsical hats all designed with a very detail orientated sense of craftmanship. One of my favourites was the checked panel coat with oversized leather cuffs and collar.
I also really enjoyed seeing Balenciaga’s boxy silhouettes continue through to AW19. The collection’s slightly quirky interpretation of laid back cool is a much-appreciated and refined new direction for streetwear.
FRANCESCA WALLACE, Senior Digital Fashion Editor:
After last year’s, er, situation, I never thought I could love Celine again, but Hedi proved us all wrong with this collection — and I’m in love. The seriousness, the vintage-ness, the sophisicatedness. I love it all and all I want to do is wear this outfit while sipping on a coffee in Paris right now.
