She’ll be playing the role of Katy Keene. According to The CW, "bold, big-hearted and independent, Katy Keene is a twenty-something New Yorker who aspires to be a fashion designer. When she’s not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she’s navigating friendship and dating in the big city."
Another thing working in the show’s favour is its creators - it’s from the makers of Riverdale, and will actually feature a spin-off storyline from the comic, with Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) making a cross-over between the two (and we predict there may be more Riverdale star appearances in the future).
The storyline follows fashion-designer-in-the-making Katy Keene and her roommates - which includes Riverdale’s Josie McCoy - as they try to make their dreams (be the next broadway, runway, and music stars) come true in New York.
“This show is all about hope and pursuing dreams and the friendships and relationships that bond it all,” Lucy said in an Instagram announcement about the show being officially picked.
"You feel really optimistic and inspired, so tonally it’s a lot different from Riverdale,” Lucy Hale said of the show in an interview with W Magazine. “But I think lovers of shows like those will still gravitate to our show, because it leaves you feeling good and ready to go out and chase whatever it is you’re chasing. I’ve never quite done a show like this. There’s a musical element to it, and lots of amazing clothes."
