The Duke of Edinburgh made a stoic appearance at Meghan Markle and Prince harry's royal wedding last week, however it has come to light that the 96-year-old was nursing a very serious injury at the time.
Prince Philip's health has been a concern since he retired from official public duties last winter and recently underwent surgery on his hip just weeks before the wedding. We now know that he was also recovering from a broken rib on the big day, according to Marie Claire U.K.
Sadly, the report about the Duke's injury is accompanied with the news that his former private secretary of 19 years, Brigadier Sir Miles Hunt-Davis, has died at the age of 79.
According to the Express, "during his time with the Queen's husband, the retired army officer was widely regarded as his most trusted aide."
In fact, Sir Hunt-Davis was so close to the Duke that he and his wife were given permission to live in Nottingham Cottage - the current home of the newly-married Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to royal experts, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle planned a short engagement to accommodate the British consort's ailing health, basically they wanted to make sure Harry's grandfather would still be well enough to attended the big day.
