Prince Henrik and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark
Originally born in France, Henrick struggled to win over the hearts of the Danish people for much of his fifty year marriage to Queen Margrethe. In September 2017 he was diagnosed with dementia. On January 28 he was admitted to hospital in Copenhagen with a lung infection and a benign lung tumour.
Yesterday, the palace confirmed that Henrik was back at Fredensborg Palace “where the prince wishes to spend his last days.”
