Music has been written by rocker Bryan Adams and his partner Jim Vallance, while the musical's book was written by the original screenwriter J.F. Lawton and was heavily contributed to by director Garry Marshall before his passing in 2016. Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) is on board as director and choreographer.
Samantha Barks will star in the role of Vivian, originally played by Julia Roberts, while Tony award-winner Steve Kazee will be Edward Lewis, the character first portrayed on screen by Richard Gere.
Producer Paula Wagner promised that the new musical adaptation would honour the original, saying it "will have the heart, humour, warmth and joy of the film."
Pretty Woman: The Musical will premiere at Chicago's Oriental Theater in the spring of 2018 for five weeks, before moving to Broadway in the fall. We can't wait!
