Beauty Talk: Poppy Delevingne

How would you describe your go-to beauty look?
“When I’m not working, I don’t like to wear a lot of make-up so I keep it very relaxed, a little bit of concealer and bronzer, and maybe a little bit of mascara and lip balm. Because I cut my hair recently, it’s quite hard for me to manage. Funnily enough, when I [had my hair cut] everyone was like, ‘You’re so lucky, it’s so manageable,’ but it’s the opposite! I wear it in pigtails quite a lot, but I think my signature hair look is a messy bed-head with a soft wave.”
Do you follow a skincare regimen?
“When I was younger I was very relaxed about it, but now that I’m a little wiser and older, I like to follow a regimen quite strictly. I don’t overcomplicate it—I never add in random products. I just like to keep to the products I have in my regimen.”
You’ve just launched the Queen of Pop collection with Jo Malone. Do you have any favourite products?
“The Velvet Rose & Oud Bubble Bath, because it’s very luxurious and sumptuous and I love the idea of people being [transported] to a whole new world [while] in the bath. And the Amber & Lavender cologne—I love the colour of the bottle and it’s the [scent] my husband wears. I take it everywhere with me when I travel and, when I miss him, I spray it on myself and on my pillow and
it reminds me of him.”
How does it feel to work with such an iconic brand?
“It’s an absolute dream come true. I grew up with Jo Malone and both my mother and grandmother were huge fans—it has always been woven into the fabric of my life in one way or another.”
I’ve read that your biggest indulgence is a long bath. Can you tell us about your bath time ritual?
“That’s exactly what the Queen of Pop collection is based on—my obsession with bath time. I love to have Fleetwood Mac playing in the background and [the water] has to be piping hot. I light a few candles and add lashings of bubble bath—I just want to be under a canopy of bubbles! I like to sit there for hours on end until my husband comes in and has to drag me out, by which point I’m literally looking like a prune.”
When do you feel the most beautiful?
“At the end of a holiday. You know that feeling when you’re a little freckled and your hair is all beachy? Your eyes are bright white, your nails are long, your skin is dewy, and you’ve been smiling for days on end.”
