Now, the queen herself has taken swipe at all those Instagram bloggers and influencers out there by claiming she ~invented~ selfies in a new interview with W. It's that sort of unwavering confidence in her own influence that makes Paris shine bright like a very expensive diamond.
“If a beeper had a camera, I would have taken a selfie with it,” she told the publication, before agreeing that she was truthfully the matriarch of the selfie. “I think I have a selfie from when I was a little kid, like on a disposable camera.”
If we're being honest, we totally believe her. Anyone else having flashbacks to the star's The O.C. cameo featuring Seth Cohen? That was definitely the first time we'd seen a 'selfie' taken in such a manner:
Paris also got real about creating the role of 'influencer,' before the title even existed.
“We started a whole new genre of celebrity that no one had ever seen before,” she said. The crazy thing is, she's not wrong. We don't remember a pre-Paris star who was simply famous for being famous... do you?
“To now see things on the runway, and to see girls wearing things that I used to wear is really cool because nobody really dressed like me back in the day,” she continued on. “Young people now see what people wore before and want to bring it back.”
Correct again, Paris. The article, titled 'Paris Hilton Invented Everything You’re Doing in 2017, and She Knows It,' looks at some of the many trends she made popular back in the day and it's kind of hard to picture the era without them and, essentially, her.
In a surprisingly sarcastic video to accompany her article, Paris takes viewers through her favourite 2000s trends. It's seriously a must-watch:
