Sophie Monk’s announcement that she will be the next Bachelorette surprised and delighted us all. Sophie is hilarious, and she will bring her unique brand of sarcasm to the show.
However, the news means that the producers have bucked tradition and not chosen the previous runner-up, Nikki Gogan.
Remember Nikki? She’s the Perth-girl who stole our hearts and made us ugly cry when Richie Strahan gave Alex Nation the final rose.
Osher has shed some light on why Nikki isn’t getting another chance at love, unlike Matty J, Richie and Sam Frost (who all got rejected before coming back.)
“You’re assuming that she wanted to do it,” the Bachelor host told Yahoo.
“We don’t know the answers do we? Women in our society have agency… they can do what they want. If she doesn’t want to do it, she doesn’t want to do it!”
It sounds might have turned down the role. Luckily Monk stepped in just in time.
“I don’t know, but I’m really excited about it. I think she’s going to be great."
