The Bridget Jones actress is expected to take home the Oscar for Best Actress for portraying the legendary Judy Garland in biopic Judy. Zellweger has won the Golden Globe, the Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG), the British Academy Film Award (BAFTA) and was named best actress by the National Board of Review. She even won an AARP award.
Zellweger is no stranger to the Oscars stage. In 2004, the now 50-year-old actress won the Academy Award, the Golden Globe, the BAFTA Award and the SAG Award for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Cold Mountain. In her extensive career, Zellweger has received seven Golden Globe nominations, winning four for her performances in Nurse Betty, Chicago, Cold Mountain and now Judy.
Judy, which is directed by Rupert Goold and based loosely on Peter Quilter’s play, “End of the Rainbow,” follows Garland’s sold-out run at a London nightclub months before her death of an accidental drug overdose in June 1969.
