Always the place for making and cementing trends, the autumn/winter ‘19/’20 season was no different, with attendees going to all lengths to ensure their chosen colours, shapes and pieces got the seal of approval. Colour reigned, as did top handle bags and sculptural heels. Offset with minimal, geometric accessories and hardly any print, this season was a far cry from the animal packed jungle of 2018. Instead, the street style set opted for understated elegance, with a focus on good quality fabrics and luxe cuts. In other words, peacocking is no longer.
Whether it’s the start of a new, minimalist era, or just a nod to what’s to come in Paris, Milan and London, we’re guessing these New York women are testing the waters for a change of scene, moving away from the more-is-more mentality of past and going towards a more relaxed future. And, honestly, we’re all for it.
