Ever since it was confirmed that 13 Reasons Why would be filming a Season 2, it seems like we keep on getting more and more spoilers about what the new episodes will entail. Since there’s no more source material to go off of (Jay Asher didn’t write a sequel to the book), it’s anyone’s guess what the plotline will be, but Netflix seems to enjoy teasing us with hints.
First, there was that revealing interview with writer Brian Yorkey, who said that Hannah Baker will definitely appear in the second season. “Hannah’s story is still very much not finished,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
And now, Netflix is taunting us with even more spoilers, recapping what we know about Season 2 “so far” on Twitter. While there will be a narrator, it won’t be Hannah, since there are no more tapes that she left. Instead, we’ll see her story from the point of view of other characters.
That storyline with Jessica and Bryce is also very much not finished. According to Netflix, she will try to “recover and return to normal life” this season, while Bryce “will hopefully get what’s coming to them.” All of that fits into the larger theme of the series, which will explore “the way we raise boys up into men and the way we treat girls and women in our culture—and what we could do better in both cases.”
Considering the second season was just announced, we still have a long way to wait until it hits Netflix, so we’ll have to rely on these clues to hold us over.
