Rich in antioxidants, vitamins and essential oils, the certified organic products quickly gained popularity via the brand’s website and blog (and put noni juice, a key Kora ingredient, on the map). By the time Kerr earned her Women of Style nod in 2012—she was a joint winner in the Beauty category and also picked up the Readers’ Choice vote—Kora Organics was stocked in 200 stores in Australia. Reminiscing, Kerr says she was honoured to be acknowledged alongside so many inspiring and successful women. “InStyle has been a pioneer in bringing together women and celebrating our accomplishments, diversity and strengths,” she says. “Hopefully we will encourage future generations to follow their passions and work hard to achieve their goals.”
Fast-forward six years and Kerr is still as busy as ever. Recently married to partner Evan Spiegel and expecting her second child, she has been focusing on Kora’s global expansion. In 2017, her products launched in 350 stores in the US exclusively through Sephora and by the end of this year will be stocked in 2,500 stores across 25 countries. “It has taken a lot of work, but it has been worth [paying attention to] every intricate detail to get us where we are while still maintaining the honesty and integrity of the brand,” she says. As one of the original model moguls, Kerr has paved the way for new-gen acolytes launching their own cosmetics lines.
On gender equality... “Society has come such a long way. The generations before us fought, marched and protested to a ord us the opportunities we have today. To simply have a voice and an opinion that matters—for that I am eternally grateful.”
The ultimate woman of style... “My grandmother, Annie. She personifies grace, kindness and compassion in all that she does.”
