The Aussie supermodel reveals the lessons she’s learnt creating her beauty brand, KORA Organics. Plus, her all-natural skincare trick and the reason you should start taking cold showers...
How would you explain your beauty philosophy?
I look at things from a 360 perspective; nourishing your mind, body and skin. Beauty is a state of mind and when you’re feeling confident and comfortable within yourself and you’re kind to yourself, that shows and you shine. It isn’t about depriving yourself of anything, it’s just being conscious of your thoughts, what you are putting on your body and what nutrients you are getting from what you are eating. It’s a holistic approach to beauty.
How do you maintain such healthy, shiny hair?
When I’m not on a photo shoot or attending an event, I let my hair dry naturally and don’t use heat [styling] tools. Once a week, I put coconut oil in my hair and sleep in it. Just make sure you put a towel over the pillow. I also have cold showers, which are really good for the hair.
Cold showers? That sounds tough…
If I don’t want to do the whole thing cold, I’ll just do the last couple of minutes. It stimulates circulation to your hair shaft, your scalp and also throughout your body. It strengthens the immune system [and] makes me feel really good.
Talk us through your daily beauty routine. What are your must-do steps?
In the morning I dry body brush and jump in the shower. It’s great for circulation and energy. I mix the KOR A Organics Noni Glow Oil into the Hydrating or Soothing Day and Night Cream and if I’m not working, I’ll do a simple make-up look with just a lip or mascara. At night I use the oil as a more intense treatment, so I’ll just wear [it] alone. When I wake up, my skin is glowing. Twice a week I’ll mask, [using the] Clay Purifying Mask down the centre [of the face] and the Hydrating Mask around the outside. I’m always multimasking and multi-tasking!
Do you have any DIY beauty tricks?
I suffer from dry skin on my legs, so I mix a handful of sea salt with the Noni Glow Body Oil and scrub it all over my legs before I take a bath. The salt dissolves and my skin feels super-hydrated and radiant.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learnt since starting KORA Organics?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, or to say ‘I don’t understand.’ We are all learning and people are happy to explain, and can and will help if you ask.
