Miley Cyrus Opens Up About Her 2013 Split With Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus has opened about about her 2013 split with fiancé Liam Hemsworth, saying the time apart has made them stronger than ever.
"I think people that break up and get back together, that’s awesome,” she told SiriusXM's Hits 1 in Hollywood. “You get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up. I think if you’re growing up attached to another person, you never really get solid as your own being. So I’m really solid, and then he gets to be really solid. And together we get to be two really grounded people. It’s not a half and a half making a whole.”
While their breakup following their year-long engagement worked out for the better, the singer admitted she wasn't always positive of a reconciliation.
"I didn't know if that was the end of it or knew if we'd be back together again, but knew that wherever I was going was on the right path," said Cyrus.
In a recent interview with Billboard, the 24-year-old further explained why their split was necessary.
"I needed to change so much," admitted Cyrus. "And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard. Suddenly you’re like, 'I don’t recognize you anymore.' We had to refall for each other."
