Mido Celebrates A Century Of Style
Turning 100 is a major milestone that should be celebrated—there's no arguing with that. And with 2018 marking a century in business for Swiss watch brand Mido; the label threw a birthday bash to remember.
Held in Singapore within the city's lotus flower-shaped ArtScience Museum, the event welcomed guests from around the world, including InStyle, who were taken on a journey through Mido's storied 100-year history.
From Art Deco posters to gorgeous vintage watches, Mido's past was honoured in a chic retrospective, before its present-day craftsmanship took centre stage. The brand presented its latest timepiece, the Baroncelli Lady Day and Night, which has been cleverly designed with the modern woman in mind.
The versatile watch, which is available now, comes complete with three easily interchangeable straps that can be switched-up depending on your outfit, mood or occasion.
But the event didn't end there. The crescendo to the evening came courtesy of Dutch model Romee Strijd, who surprised everyone when she appeared wearing a yet-to-be released Mido watch.
Representing Mido's future, the Rainflower timepiece is set to launch in May 2019, but right now everyone has the opportunity to design their own take on the feminine shape.
Strijd was the first to take part in the brand's #CreateYourMido campaign, choosing to combine a rose gold case and black leather strap with a mother-of-pearl face accented by striking green jewels.
Strijd's sophisticated design will go into production alongside four customer submissions, which are due to be revealed in March. Watch this space!
