All eyes were on 19-year-old Paris Jackson as she arrived at Flemington racecourse, marking her first public appearance in Australia, and her first time at the Melbourne Cup.
Each year, the race that stops the nation, draws a high-profile international guest, with the likes of Gigi Hadid and Sarah Jessica Parker making the trip down under in previous years.
An A-List guest such as Jackson affords an Australian designer the opportunity to have their custom garments reach worldwide exposure.
Paris has been forced to deny claims she refused to wear a one-of-a-kind creation by Alex Perry.
"According to sources close to Myer, Jackson wasn't a fan of the Perry option and instead opted for the rusty-coloured dress with ruffles and sheer sleeves," reports Fairfax.
The publication further claimed that the Chanel ambassador initially wanted to wear a pair of cowboy boots, however comprised by wearing a pair of Tony Bianco heeled boots.
Paris' stylist for the event Trevor Stones shared this candid photo of the young star.
In a statement to Daily Mail, Jackson's rep shutdown reports of any behind-the-scenes drama.
"This isn't true. Paris couldn't have refused to wear a custom-made Alex Perry design to the Melbourne Cup, as no such dress was ever made. Paris did wear a piece from Alex's collection on the cover of Stellar Magazine."
Pictured leaving the event in high-spirits, with her boho waves tied in a loose top knot, Jackson appeared to be the opposite of a diva. After the initial claims were published, Perry shared this Instagram photo with the caption:
"LOVED MEETING THIS BEAUTIFUL GIRL TODAY!!! PARIS @parisjackson 🖤 SUCH A JOY DRESSNG HER FOR @stellarmag AND @myer BUT MORE BEAUTIFUL AND GENUINE IN PERSON THAN I COULD IMAGINE!!!"
