Meghan Markle's wedding dress design won't be revealed to the public until she walks down the aisle at St. George's cathedral on May the 19th. Until now–Alexander McQueen, Roland Mouret, and Erdem are three of the most likely names to be chosen to design the 36-year-old's dress. However, a royal expert has just weighed in, hinting that the former Suits star may go with a more traditional pick.
“I know that the smart money—as far as the bookies are concerned—is on Stewart Parvin, who is one of the queen’s dressers. That would be a very, very clever choice if it is true,” Katie Nicholl, author of Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, told InStyle.
Nicholl continus: “I think it’d be a clever choice because it would get her brownie points with the queen and certainly with the London fashion brigades, because I think, you know, she has moved to the capital, and to be flying the flag for London in terms of fashion just as Kate did would be a very great thing for her to do.”
Meghan now faces the daunting task of selecting a dress, which will be seen by millions of people around the world, for years and years to come.
Meghan’s choice of designer will be a difficult decision – what it will say about fashion, modern royalty and American/British relations? The British fashion press are predicting Markle’s dress will by Erdem. The Canadian born, U.K. based designer is already a favourite of Markle’s: “Erdem is a designer I've been wearing for years,” she told Vanity Fair.
Meghan previously shared her favourite celebrity wedding dress of all time was the minimalist style Carolyn Bessette wore when she tied the knot with John F. Kennedy Jr. The timeless dress was designed by Narciso Rodriguez, for Calvin Klein and resembled a sexy slip.
Here's what we do know; we only have to wait a few more weeks to see Meghan dress. Watch this space!
