Just 24 hours after making headlines for backing out of the royal wedding, Thomas Markle did a complete 180 saying he wanted to walk his daughter Meghan Markle down the aisle when she marries Prince Harry this weekend.
TMZ originally reported that Markle had pulled out of the wedding for fear of embarrassing his daughter further after news of his paparazzi photo scandal broke. However he then told the publication that he would in fact love to walk her down the aisle and be “part of history”.
“I hate the idea of missing one of the greatest moments in history and walking my daughter down the aisle,” he said.
“Of course I’d walk her down the aisle. This is a historic moment. I’d like to be a part of history.”
His change of mind however was dependent on doctors giving him the all-clear to fly, after having suffered a heart attack last week and ongoing chest pains.
TMZ have now reported that Markle has not been cleared to fly and will undergo surgery.
"They [doctors] will go in and clear blockage, repair damage and put a stent where it is needed."
Following initial reports that Markle how bowed out of attending his daughter’s wedding, TMZ reports that there is no bad blood between the pair, with Meghan reportedly calling her father and telling him she loved him and was concerned about his health, and that she harbors no ill feelings over the photo scandal.
