Meghan Markle isn’t usually one for classic pieces of jewellery – she tends to favour more bohemian designs, like this $50 ring and this Australian label – but there’s one piece she’s made an exception for.
We’re not talking about her exquisite engagement ring, but something she bought herself, long before she met Prince Harry: a Cartier ‘Tank Française’ timepiece.
According to 9Honey, the future princess treated herself to the expensive design (the yellow gold version retails for around $7,800 in Australia) as a reward for the success of Suits.
“When I found out Suits had been picked up for our third season – which, at the time, felt like such a milestone – I totally splurged,” Markle tells Hello.
“I had it engraved on the back, ‘To M.M. From M.M.’ and I plan to give it to my daughter one day,” she added.
The royal family has a long tradition of passing precious pieces of jewellery down through generations – Markle’s engagement ring features two diamonds from Princess Diana’s private collection, and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, wears the sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to the late princess.
