Meghan Markle is paying sartorial tribute to her soon-to-be grandmother.
The former Suits actress visited Birmingham with Prince Harry last Thursday, where she was spotted wearing a diamond cross bracelet. The new jewellery was layered over her favourite piece, the Horizontal Bar Bracelet from Birks’ Rosée du Matin collection ($925 USD).
People reports that Meghan, who was brought up as an Episcopalian, was baptised into the Church of England in a secret ceremony on Tuesday evening. She was also confirmed immediately following the baptism, so she is able to receive Holy Communion at her wedding ceremony.
The private service was attended by Prince Charles, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and of course Harry. It was reportedly conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury in the Royal Chapel at St. James’s Palace in London.
The cross bracelet, which is a traditional baptism gift, is seen as a nod of respect to Queen Elizabeth II, the head of the Church of England.
