Margot Robbie is having a major Hollywood moment right now. As her enchanting film Goodbye Christopher Robin premieres around the world to rave reviews, she's gearing up for the release of her Tonya Harding dark comedy in December.
I, Tonya - which has been applauded at film festivals across the globe - tells the story of disgraced figure skater Harding, and the violent assault on her rival Nancy Kerrigan.
For those who aren't familiar with the Harding-Kerrigan case, Kerrigan was attacked by a hitman hired by Harding’s ex-husband Jeff Gillooly after a training session ahead of the 1994 winter Olympics. He failed to break her leg and she went on to win silver, while Harding placed 8th. Gilloy took a plea bargain against Harding and was released from prison after just one year. Harding pleaded guilty to hindering the prosecution and received three years probation, 500 hours community service, a $US160,000 fine and a lifetime ban from the sport.
The teaser shows glimpses of the incident, and shares insight to Harding's psyche as she narrates the trailer. Check it out below...
