The first trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again has just dropped, and fans have plenty of questions about one important character.
The story follows Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) as she returns to the island of Kalokairi with the news that she's pregnant. Seeking support from her mother's best friends Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters) to help her get ready for baby. "I'm pregnant, but I don't know how to do this by myself," she says.
Fans have been left wondering: does this mean Donna (Meryl Streep) is dead in the sequel?
The sequel shows how Sophie begins to learn the story of her mother, through flashbacks that show Donna as a young woman (Lily James) and how she came to meet the three men who may be Sophie's father (who grow up into Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård). Their young counterparts are played by Jeremy Irvine, Hugh Skinner and Josh Dylan, respectively.
The trailer also delivers the arrival of Sophie's grandmother, Ruby, played by the inimitable Cher.
