Ever since their debut back in 2011 on The X Factor UK, pop quartet Little Mix have gone from strength to strength. Their newest single, Bounce Back, is no different. The song, per the title, takes its inspiration from New Orleans bounce music while also taking inspiration from '80s R&B.
While group members Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirwall have consistently proved their singing and entertaining chops are only climbing - they've also proved they're not to be messed with when it comes to their fashion choices. From performance looks to red carpet to off-duty, Perrie, Leigh-Anne, Jesy and Jade have developed their own distinct, undeniable style.
In honour of Bounce Back's release, InStyle Australia asked the Perrie and Leigh-Anne what trends they foresee returning this year and judging from their expertise, we'd best be paying attention.
For Leigh-Anne, it's all about the '90s. "We had a stage where everyone was just doing nineties fashion - and it's still going," Leigh-Anne says. "To be fair, it's timeless. It's one of those things that's just kind of around anyway."
Leigh-Anne is undeniably influenced by the decade, consistently wearing hoop earrings, vintage crops and updated sports jersey. It's also the singers hair and makeup choices that reflect the love of the '90s - from deep browns to sleeked braids.
For Perrie, on the other hand, it's all about the '60s. "I love the sixties," she says. "The Twiggy, bottom lashes - she's one of my icons."
"I think when it comes to just different fashion and makeup, we just love experimenting and embracing what we like," Perrie adds.
The entertainers' love of '60s flare is evident in her recent looks - just take her winged liner and headbands as a start.
While both Leigh-Anne and Perrie admit that they see these trends coming back, they both believe fashion is about expressing oneself.
"We always do our own stuff anyway, regardless of what's in," Perrie says. "We still wear random sh*t and experiment with our style and hair and makeup."
