Lisa Wilkinson's replacement on the Today show has finally been confirmed this morning. The network announced Georgie Gardner will be the new morning show host alongside Karl Stefanovic.
Gardner will return to the show after three years absence. The 46-year-old will join newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys, and sports presenter Tim Gilbert on the panel.
"Wow, I can’t believe it," she said as the announcement was made this morning.
"This is a pinch me moment without a doubt. It’s an enormous privilege," Georgie said.
Wilkinson sensationally announced in October that she was moving to Ten to join The Project. Georgie will reportedly earn just a quarter of Stefanovic's $2 million salary according to The Australian.
"It is understood Nine has offered Gardner a contract worth at least $750,000 a year, a big lift on her current five-year deal, which was negotiated by former Nine chief executive David Gyngell and worth about $500,000 a year," the publication reports.
