Lisa Wilkinson has clapped back at The Daily Mail for an unbelievably sexist article about her sartorial choices.
The TODAY host ~dared~ to wear the same maroon floral blouse twice in four months, probably because washing machines exist and it's a rather fetching top. Well, The Daily Mail was having none of this "re-cycling" and drew attention to the outfit in a lengthy article titled: "That's Thrifty! Today show's Lisa Wilkinson sports same floral blouse, just four months apart, while hosting breakfast program."
Can we take a minute to remind you that her co-host, Karl Stefanovic, wore the exact. same. suit. for an entire year, and no-one noticed?
"No one has noticed; no one gives a shit," he said at the time. "I'm judged on my interviews, my appalling sense of humour, on how I do my job, basically. Whereas women are quite often judged on what they're wearing or how their hair is."
What happened to Lisa yesterday has only proved the point further. So, rather than simply accept the blatant misogyny, Lisa hit back with an epic Tweet.
"I am sooo busted," she joked with a screenshot of the article. "Seems I've been seen hosting breakfast TV wearing same blouse with "strategic cutout above the bust" just 4months apart!!!"
Apparently the host wasn't done, however, as she showed up to work this morning looking a little something like this:
TODAY took things one step further on Twitter and pointed out that TODAY Extra host Sonia Kruger has also donned the blouse.
As someone who is literally sitting here on a Wednesday in the same outfit I wore Monday, I say bravo!
