Literary lovers were thrilled to hear that their beloved novel, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, was being turned into a film. Based on the enchanting novel by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows, the WWII period drama tells the story of journalist Juliet Ashton, who travels to the British Channel island of Guernsey in search of a story, after hearing of a book club that began during German occupation.
The film adaptation features an ensemble cast of Lily James (Baby Driver, Cinderella), Michiel Huisman (The Age Of Adaline, Game Of Thrones), Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbeby), Glen Powell (Hidden Figures), Matthew Goode (The Crown), Katherine Powe (The I.T. Crowd), Tom Courtenay (Nicholas Nickleby) and Penelope Wilton (Calendar Girls). Along with the stellar line up of stars, there are incredible costumes, historical sets and beautiful scenery sure to take viewers breath away.
The stars stepped out at the world premiere overnight, walking the red carpet at The Curzon Mayfair Cinema in London.
Lily stunned in a white off-the-shoulder Emilia Wikstead Fall 2018 gown, which she paired with barely-there silver Jimmy Choo sandals and emerald diamond-drop earrings.
Her co-star and on-screen love interest, Micheil, wore a black double-breasted suit with a navy blue shirt and matching tie.
Lily was also joined on the red carpet by her former Downton Abbey co-star Jessica, who wore a blue one-shoulder Vivienne Westwood Couture gown. Meanwhile their Guernsey co-star Glen wore a dark grey suit with a white shirt and thin black tie.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is in cinemas April 19th 2018. Checkout the trailer below:
