Em Rata was later seen following suit while running errands in NYC, covering up her slim ankles with chunky white crew socks which she paired with classic blue skinny jeans and a red, hooded puffer.
The actor and model later shared a photo of her new office space wearing the aforementioned sock-and-denim combo and a white crop top, proving this was not a case of laziness nor an inability to locate cotton anklets in her (no-doubt) vast closet.
While some of the trends Ratajkowski has championed – think micro bikinis and blazers over bras – are attempted by only the most die-hard adopters, hiking up a pair of white gym socks over recently neglected skinny jeans sounds like a pretty achievable look for those of us who prefer to keep their privates, well, private, and have things like workplace dress codes.
Admittedly two celebrity sock sightings does not a full-blown trend make, but with the international fall/winter show season fast approaching, we expect more than a few front rowers will be keeping their ankles cosy-yet-cool with this micro trend.
And considering most of us can steal Gerber’s and Rata’s style by plucking a pair from our sock drawers or swinging by the undies aisle of our local Woolies, it’s a good style update if you’re still dealing with the repercussions of those Boxing Day impulse buys.
