One person who was asked directly of their involvement is Kristen Bell, who, though she never actually appeared on screen in the show, played one of the most iconic roles: the voice of Gossip Girl.
In an interview with E! News, Bell was coy about her involvement, responding in a way only Gossip Girl would: “Maybe,” she said, “I’ll never tell.”
She also threw out a replacement name, should producers go elsewhere for 2019's version of GG: “James Earl Jones. It’s gotta be, yeah,” she added.
Just last week, Chace Crawford, who played Nate on the original series, said that he would love to cameo, should a new series go ahead. "It would be very tough to get everybody on board I think because of their schedules, Penn, Leighton, Ed... They're all doing really good TV shows. It would be hard I think [to get them altogether]. The reboot might come in the form of new characters. I would absolutely cameo. I'd have to!" he told Digital Spy.
Blake Lively, who played Serena Van Der Woodsen, has previously said she’d be open to a reboot, while Leighton Meester said in an interview in May that no one had spoken to her about the new series. “No one’s ever asked me,”E! News. “No one’s ever talked to me about it except for in interviews and I always say the same: I never say never, so I don’t know. No one’s sent me that information, it’s coming from you.”
