According to author and former royal correspondent Phil Dampier, “Behind the scenes I’m told Kate is doing her best to bring everyone together and help Meghan”.
“I’m told she has reached out to Meghan and spoken to her on the phone. Kate feels sorry for her and knows that Meghan is struggling,” Dampier told Express.
During the documentary, Tom Bradby asked Meghan how she’s coping with the “ruthless” treatment she’s getting from British tabloid press, and asked about her mental and physical health.
“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging,” she told Bradby. “And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mum or trying to be a newlywed. It’s um…yeah,” she emotionally answered, adding, “thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
Clarifying how she was feeling, Bradby asked Meghan if it “would be fair to say, not really okay, as in it’s really been a struggle?”. She replied with “yes” although she noted that it’s not all bad. “It’s okay. The good thing is that I’ve got my baby and I’ve got my husband and they’re the best.”
