Julia Stiles has revealed intimate behind-the-scenes secrets from 10 Things I Hate About You, as the tenth anniversary of Heath Ledger’s death approaches.
“He was always a delight,” the 36-year-old told NewsCorp. “He had a didgeridoo he’d bring with him and he’d play every day ... I’d never seen one before, it was such a novelty.”
Stiles was cast opposite Ledger in the contemporary remake of Shakespeare's The Taming Of The Shrew, the teen comedy became a cult classic following its 1999 release.
The young cast, which also featured Jordan Gordon Levitt and Larisa Oleynik, “hung out all the time," Julia said.
When asked about any secret hook-ups between the cast, she candidly confessed, "of course there was."
“You get a bunch of young people together, you’re having a lot of fun ... We were at a time in our lives when we were still open and uncensored, and un-self-conscious — it was fun.”
“The only person who was really kind of a recognisable star was Joseph, from his TV show 3rd Rock From The Sun," the actress who recently got married shared.
“For the rest of us, it wasn’t until the movie came out that that momentum kind of built.”
Most of the young cast members found international fame after the film, however Heath's stardom eclipsed them all as he went on to star in 19 films, winning a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight.
